🎯 Lesson Goal
In this lesson, you will learn how to use the prepositions ‘under’ and ‘over’. You will see how to say where things are using these words.
Dans cette leçon, vous apprendrez à utiliser les prépositions « under » et « over ». Vous verrez comment dire où se trouvent les objets avec ces mots.
🧠 Grammar Focus
We use ‘under’ to say something is below or beneath something else. We use ‘over’ to say something is above or higher than something else. The sentence often goes: ‘The object is under/over the thing.’ For example, ‘The cat is under the table.’ or ‘The lamp is over the desk.’ Both words show where things are. Be careful: we do not use ‘under’ or ‘over’ for time here. Remember, the preposition comes before the thing. Examples: 1. The ball is under the chair. 2. The bird flies over the tree. 3. The shoes are under the bed. 4. The clock is over the door.
On utilise « under » pour dire que quelque chose est en dessous de quelque chose d’autre. On utilise « over » pour dire que quelque chose est au-dessus ou plus haut que quelque chose d’autre. La phrase est souvent : « The object is under/over the thing. » Par exemple, « The cat is under the table. » ou « The lamp is over the desk. » Les deux mots montrent où se trouvent les choses. Attention : ici, on n’utilise pas « under » ou « over » pour parler du temps. Souvenez-vous, la préposition vient avant l’objet.
