🧠 Grammar Focus
We use ‘next to’ to say something is by the side of something else. We say ‘between’ when something is in the middle of two things. The sentence usually has: Subject + verb + place + preposition + object. For example: The book is next to the cup. The cup is between the book and the pen. ‘Next to’ and ‘between’ tell us where things are. A common mistake is to forget the preposition after the verb. Here are some examples: 1. The chair is next to the table. 2. The cat is between the doors. 3. The phone is next to the computer. 4. The ball is between the boxes.
On utilise « next to » pour dire que quelque chose est à côté d’une autre chose. On utilise « between » quand quelque chose est au milieu de deux choses. La phrase suit généralement : Sujet + verbe + lieu + préposition + objet. Par exemple, « The book is next to the cup ». Ces prépositions indiquent où se trouvent les choses.
