🧠 Grammar Focus
We use ‘this’ to talk about one thing close to us. We use ‘that’ to talk about one thing far from us. The sentence usually starts with ‘This is’ or ‘That is’. ‘This’ and ‘that’ come before a noun. We say ‘This is a book’ when the book is near. We say ‘That is a chair’ when the chair is far. A common mistake is using ‘this’ for far things or ‘that’ for near things. Remember, ‘this’ = near, ‘that’ = far. Here are examples: This is my pen. That is your bag. This apple is red. That dog is big.
On utilise ‘this’ pour parler d’une chose proche de nous. On utilise ‘that’ pour une chose éloignée. La phrase commence souvent par ‘This is’ ou ‘That is’. ‘This’ et ‘that’ sont placés avant un nom. Par exemple, ‘This is a book’ quand le livre est proche, et ‘That is a chair’ quand la chaise est loin. L’erreur fréquente est d’utiliser ‘this’ pour une chose lointaine ou ‘that’ pour une chose proche. Retenez: ‘this’ = proche, ‘that’ = loin. Voici des exemples: This is my pen. That is your bag. This apple is red. That dog is big.
