🎯 Lesson Goal

Learn to use ‘if’ and ‘when’ to talk about possible and definite situations in the future.

🧠 Grammar Focus

We use ‘if’ to talk about things that may happen. Use ‘if’ when something is not sure. We use ‘when’ to talk about things that will happen for sure. Use ‘when’ for things certain in the future. The structure is: If + present simple, then + future will + verb. When + present simple, then + future will + verb. Examples: If it rains, I will stay home. When the bus arrives, we will get on. If she calls, I will answer. When I am ready, I will go out. This helps talk about plans and possibilities in everyday life.

📖 Short Reading

Anna wants to go to the park. If it is sunny, she will walk there. When she arrives, she will meet her friend John. If John is late, Anna will wait for him. When John comes, they will eat lunch together. If it starts to rain, they will go home. When the sun comes out again, they will play outside. Anna likes to use ‘if’ and ‘when’ to plan her day.
