🎯 Lesson Goal

In this lesson, you learn how to use ‘can’ to make polite requests. You will practice reading, vocabulary, and exercises with ‘can’ requests.

🧠 Grammar Focus

We use ‘can’ to ask for help or permission. It is polite to use ‘can’ in questions. The form is: Can + you + verb? Example: Can you help me? Use ‘can’ only for present or future requests. The answer can be yes or no. A common mistake is to forget ‘can’ and say the verb alone. Examples: 1. Can you open the door? 2. Can I use your pen? 3. Can she come here? 4. Can we start now? 5. Can you wait, please?
