Asking for and Giving Help

Anna needs help with her homework. She asks her friend, "Can you help me?" Her friend is very helpful and says, "Yes, I can help out after school." Sometimes Anna feels helpless when the work is hard, but her friend always gives a helping hand. Anna thinks it is good to ask when you need help.

💡 Notice the Pattern

Using 'help' verbs and adjectives

We say 'help' to talk about giving or getting help. 'Helpful' describes someone or something that gives good help. 'Helpless' means not able to help yourself.

  • I help my friend. (verb)
